Description:
The ability to move the emulsion around is very important in the Polaroid Emulsion Lift photographic process. It gives dimension and sculptural qualities to a two dimensional medium. The folds in the emulsion do resemble cracks a lot of the time. Ixchel is my close girlfriend in the photograph. At the time, she was pregnant and very uncomfortable with the idea of giving birth. I combined her portrait and the rotten apple hanging from what resembles an umbilical cord to play with her worry about bringing a new life into her unstable mindset.
